ASHEVILLE TRANSIT COMMISSION MEETINGS
The Asheville Transit Commission has changed the time of its meetings. Asheville Transit Commission will meet the first Tuesday of every month, beginning on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. The meetings will be held at City Hall, First Floor Conference Room.

Asheville Living Treasures seeks nominations for its May 2012 honoring ceremony. Three seniors from Buncombe County will be selected for the spring ceremony, which will be held Sunday, May 20 at 1:30 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 20 Oak Street, Asheville. There will be a reception following the ceremony.
Asheville Living Treasures was founded to recognize and publicly honor those seniors of Asheville, and Buncombe County, who have devoted their lives to making their community a better place to live.

The multicultural Different Strokes! Performing Arts Collective theater company is holding auditions for actors of all ethnicities for the 2012-13 season.
Experienced actors are asked to bring a headshot or recent photograph and a monologue to read. For those with no experience, both can be provided. Auditions will be held February 11 from noon until 4 p.m., at Asheville High School Theater at 419 McDowell St.

RALEIGH, NC – Gov. Bev Perdue recently named two local professionals as members of the Judicial Nominating Commission. The 18-member commission will review applications when vacancies occur on the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, or Superior Court. Members will select three nominees to fill the vacancy and the governor will appoint one of those nominees.

Mr. Perlandus L. Hughes was recently promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major. Hughes has served in the military for the past 22 years, and is now stationed at Fort Bliss army base in Elpaso, Texas.
Sgt. Major Hughes attended Asheville High School, and is the son of Barbara A. Hughes-Logan, and Leonard Little, Sr. of Asheville, North Carolina.
