The New Year Brings Change for Buncombe County’s Health and Human Services E-mail
This month the Department of Health and Human Services will move to the county’s newly renovated Health and Human Services Building at 40 Coxe Avenue in Asheville. Many health department and social services will be located in the same building. The date for completion of the renovations is January 23, 2012.

By having Health and Human services together it will be easier for clients and visitors to get many of the services they need at one convenient location. Besides the one-stop office at 40 Coxe Avenue, residents can also apply for many assistance programs over the phone, or 24/7 online at www.buncombecounty.org/dss.

The County wants to make it easier for people to access the services they need in the way that best meets their needs. Many services are also co-located with other providers to make it convenient for clients.

This reorganization is part of the County’s ongoing efforts to maximize resources and provide services that ensure residents’ safety and well-being, foster better health, and support their self-sufficiency.

For more information or to make an appointment, call (828) 250-5000 or (828) 250-5500. Or go to buncombecounty.org for a complete directory of county services and locations.
