Committed to Ending Health Disparities E-mail
Friday, 14 March 2008

These North Carolina State Representatives were committed to ending health disparities throughout the state. We salute and honor their memory by recognizing how they made a difference.

Committed –  Embarked on an advocacy and supportive mission to heighten awareness of the health disparities problem.

Obligation – Out of a sense of personal/professional obligation, laid the groundwork to build a foundation for health initiatives locally and in the State of North Carolina.

Meaningful – Effectively conveyed the intensity of problems associated with cancer, diabetes, HIV/Aids, hypertension, minority infant mortality, and sexually transmitted infections.

Mission – Used their voice to break the deafening silence and spoke up for minorities impacted by health disparities. Supported the urgency of minority populations putting healthy lifestyles into practice.

Integrity – Undivided in their zeal to adhere to, address, and educate the population about large gaps in the minority population’s health status.

Transformers – Transformed “thinking” to support preventive initiatives – testing, screening, and counseling resources for minority populations.

Trailblazers – Instrumentally promoted and enhanced strategic partnerships to reduce health disparities through education and outreach initiatives.

Efficient – Provided education and support services to address cultural, social, and economic barriers to accessing health care.

Dedicated – Wholeheartedly addressed health disparities to breakdown barriers and to close the gap in the minority population’s health status.

Thank you for your struggles and sacrifices!
