KEOWEE Chamber Music Celebrates 8th Annual Festival E-mail
Friday, 09 May 2008

KCM_2007.jpgKEOWEE Chamber Music presents its 8th annual festival of spirited, adventurous chamber music, June 3-15. The 2008 KCM Festival concerts take place in Asheville and Waynesville, NC; in Greenville and Keowee Keys, SC; and on a mountaintop at Pretty Place Chapel — near Caesar’s Head State Park on the NC/SC border.

Excerpts from festival performances will be presented FREE at UNCA in the Reuter Center’s Chestnut Room Tuesday, June 3 and Tuesday, June 10 at 2 p.m. The NC Center for Creative Retirement offers to members and the public two open rehearsals by its ensemble-in-residence, whose goal is to attract new audiences to chamber music through innovative programming and informal, intimate performances. This is your chance to witness the inner workings of professionally trained musicians as they collaborate to perfect their playing — a fun, exciting, even humorous process!

Week One offers music for flute, oboe, and piano by Francis Poulenc, Madeleine Dring, and Eugène Goossens. Week Two features music for flute and string trio by Max Reger, Claude Debussy, Erno Dohnanyi and WA Mozart.

Featured musicians are Kate Steinbeck (flute/ artistic director), Alicia Chapman (oboe), Eric Wall (organ), Dan Skidmore, (violin), Simon Ertz (viola) and Elizabeth Austin (cello), and Fabio Parrini (piano).
