Ann Miller Woodford, Executive Director of One Dozen Who Care, Inc.

Building bridges between cultures and races in far Western North Carolina.
Ann Miller Woodford is the Founder and Executive Director of One Dozen Who Care, Inc., an organization whose mission is “to strengthen our leadership abilities and to create community bonds through common cultural interaction.” Ann is the initiator and/or collaborative implementer of many of the organization’s projects and programs.
The Multi-Cultural Women’s Development Conference was one of the first projects implemented to accomplish the mission of the Multi-cultural Women’s Development Conference (MWDC). Woodford and the One Dozen Who Care (ODWC) board members see MWDC as being one of the strongest, most enriching programs in all of western NC for women of all cultures and backgrounds.
Ann is a member of the
Board of Directors of the Asheville based Center for Participatory
Change, where she works with some members of the Latino community.
As a Board member of the Fred Craddock Center in Blue Ridge, GA., Ann
has the opportunity to work with our close neighbors in North Georgia
where there are no African Americans. Her work as a member of the
Advisory Board of Directors of the Office of Economic Opportunity of
the Catholic Social Services in Murphy, NC gives her a new view of how
we can use the faith community to make distinctive systemic changes
within our immediate community.
Ann is a Charter Member of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Storytellers’
Guild, a business person, a fine artist and craftsperson, the Treasurer
of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Andrews Sunday School, the Treasurer
of the Waynesville Missionary Baptist Association, a recipient of the
NC Rural Economic Development Organization’s 2000 Rural Leader of the
Year, and she received the 2003 North Carolina Governor’s Volunteer
Award for her work in this community.
Former positions Ann has held: Board of Directors of HandMade in
America; Board of Directors of the Rural Economic Development
Organization (REDO); Executive Director of the Andrews Chamber of
Commerce; Cherokee County Planner.
