Family and friends came from near and far on April 29 to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mrs. Carrie M. Briggs of Asheville at the YMI Cultural Center. Mrs. Briggs was born in Columbia, SC, moved to Asheville at the age of four, attended Asheville City Schools, and Stephens-Lee High School.

Mrs. Briggs was a dedicated wife to Mr. Dolthous Briggs (now deceased) for 53 years, and is the mother of six children (five deceased), 16 grandchildren, 22 great grands, 28 great-great grands, and 2 great-great-great grands.
