Raynetta Waters at her Subway Sandwich Shop in Fairview, NC.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte with a degree in business administration and a minor business management, Ms Waters felt her time had come. And come it did - after months of pondering the decision, and serious talks with her brothers.

Raynetta’s older brother, James “Bubba” Waters, owns three Subway Franchises in Locust, Concord, and Oakboro, NC, and will open a fourth in the newly built Wal-Mart Plaza in Locust. Her younger brother Rayford is the owner of McBonie’s Sports Bar/Grill and Restaurant on Monroe Road, and 1st Choice Transportation Services, both in the city of Charlotte.

“They both looked at me and asked what I was waiting for,” laughs Raynetta. “I just had to decide within myself if I was up to the task after caring for my mother who was ill for some time, and who passed a year ago from kidney failure. Now I feel I’m ready to capitalize on the formal education I received beyond high school,” said Raynetta.

“I named the business F & R Enterprises, Inc., putting the initial of my mom’s first name in the business. My mom  (Fannie Waters) was my rock, and my best friend. She always supported my brothers and me, and set good examples. She was an awesome person! I feel her presence, so I know this is right for me. My dad (Rayford, Sr.), is very proud and supportive, too!” mused Raynetta.

I asked Raynetta what her message is to our youth and young adults regarding business careers, and she had this to say: “Please discipline yourself in school and persevere in your studies. Build upon what you have been taught, it will pay off in the end.”

Sitting and visiting with Ms. Waters at her Subway Sandwich Shop, I could feel the excitement and energy she eludes. And, we must admit – it does seem like a pretty good fit!
