Staff reports

Bill Cavallaro, MA is currently serving as the Program Manager for the WCCJ- Men’s Program, located in Asheville, N. C. This program aims to provide men with the best services and resources they need to be productive members of the community.

The WCCJ Men’s Program is a community-based treatment alternative for men who are at-risk of going to jail or prison. The program also serves as an aftercare, or re-entry placement service for offenders returning to the community from in-patient treatment or incarceration.
The WCCJ Men’s Program offers an 18 week treatment program that consists of the following:

Group Therapy:
•    Co-facilitated by licensed therapist
•    Addresses personal responsibility, decision-making, and emotional awareness.

Substance Abuse Treatment:
•    Assessment, outpatient treatment, education, and relapse prevention.

Case Management:
•    Assistance with job search, seeking stable housing, accessing health care; and referral to community agencies.
Court Advocacy:
•    Sentencing alternatives, and jail and prison outreach services

The goal of the Men’s program is to help men remain out of custody; succeed on probation, and successfully re-integrate into their respective communities.

To accomplish this goal, the WCCJ - Men’s Program assists men in understanding and overcoming behaviors that bought them to the court’s attention and put them at risk of imprisonment.
