End of Life Care.

Staff reports

Sharon West has been selected as a Jim Bernstein Fellow of Community Health Leadership in NC. The fellowship will allow Ms. West to focus on education in African American Faith communities within our region on End of Life and medical crisis planning. This also involves educating the medical community in the area of Providing Culturally Appropriate Care to our patients.

I am so excited to be the representative from Buncombe,” said Ms. West, “The Bernstein Fellowship will help to further my on-going mission of health parity in the communities that I serve.”

The Bernstein Fellows Program offers the opportunity for persons who have already embarked on careers involving healthcare service provision to low-income and disadvantaged populations an opportunity to pursue further career enhancement experiences, while at the same time interacting with other young professionals and mentors who share a similar commitment to this type of career involvement.  Our intent is to help develop the careers and leadership skills of a generation of professionals from a variety of disciplines who will find this work to be personally and professionally fulfilling.

The Urban News community congratulates Ms. Sharon West on her accomplishments.
