Staff reports

Our second stop was Natural Solutions, located in the heart of the inner city in the Historic Downtown district of Johnson City – also known as “Blue Plum Village.” Natural Solutions offers all types of hair care services and a full range of manicure services.

The shop contains a retail center offering natural hair products for all the different types of curly and wavy hair found in the multi-ethnic community: Miss Jessies, Curls/Curly Q’s and Mixed Chicks. In the near future Natural Solutions plans to expand its product line and hair accessories.

tenn_natural_solutions_store_front.jpgBorn and reared in Johnson City, the owner, Teresa McAdams-Newman moved away from the area for eight years, but returned and decided to open Natural Solutions. When talking about multi-ethnic Johnson City, Mrs. Newman speaks from a personal perspective; she has a biracial son and understands that there is a large and growing biracial community with a definite need for a salon that would provide products and services specifically for their hair textures.

“Our goal is to provide a salon of comfort and relaxation while offering natural hair care products and services produced by a growing multi-ethnic team of independent stylists."
