Last Take!

Vanessa Williams and America Ferrera, stars of Ugly Betty.

For those of you who love the show Ugly Betty, it looks like this will be its last season due to the unforeseen low ratings. According to AOL Black Voices, the “dramedy” plummeted after ABC network moved the show from its original slot on Thursdays at 10 p.m. to Fridays. It has not been able to bounce back, so the network decided to pull the plug.

The show began in 2006, and became a huge success starring Latina, America Ferrera, and Vanessa Williams, who says the cast is deeply saddened by the cancellation.

It looks like a few celebs are running into some legal issues…

Couture -Gate!

Tina Knowles and Beyoncé’s clothing line, House of Deréon, has been sued.

Most recently, R&B Superstar Beyoncé and her mother, Tina Knowles, are in a lawsuit from a clothing manufacturer.

The star is being accused of costing apparel maker Vier International $500,000 in an alleged plan to undercut the Asian company, according to Young Black and Fabulous.com. The site also noted that Beyoncé and her partners at House of Dereon reportedly aided the scheme by making purchase orders and requesting manufacturer specifications.

Vier International executives are suing for compensation and have also filed the complaint under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, a statute usually reserved for the prosecution of organized crime gangs like the mafia.

That’s a Wrap!

Neo-Soul superstar and actress Jill Scott is also being sued by her longtime label, Hidden Beach Records. The label accuses the 37-year-old star of abandoning her six-album contract, leaving her owing millions of dollars in damages.

Though Jill will no longer be with the label, by contract, she still owes them three more albums.

Jealous Kinda’ Fella’

Former NFL star Warren Sapp also had a brush with the law. Sapp was arrested recently for domestic violence. He was taken into custody after allegedly attacking his girlfriend of two years.

Apparently, the woman claimed that he shoved her down onto a couch and choked her, resulting in a swollen knee and bruises on her neck. She told police that he was upset about men’s numbers found in her cell. Sapp had denied the accusations. Sapp, 37, was in Miami to cover the Super Bowl for the NFL network, but the network pulled him off the air due to the alleged crime.

Tweet-Repeat Catches Heat!

Questlove, of the group The Roots, caused quite a stir after tweeting a picture of NBC’s menu for Black History month. As reported, the menu consisted of fried chicken, collard greens and jalapeno cornbread. The chef, Leslie Calhoun, is black, but some fans found the menu offensive after it was tweeted and began circulating it on the Internet.

Questlove says he tweeted it only because he thought it was funny. “Whatever the case, I found this funny and when I find something funny I like to let the world in on the joke (‘twitpic’ anyone??). In NO way did I ever think that this was some cruel insensitive joke on behalf of Jeff Zucker and his comrades at NBC, (the cafeteria isn’t even owned or operated by NBC).”
